What is a sitemap?

Last updated: 07/03/2025

With a sitemap, you can create a file hosted among the other files in your account that informs search engines about all the pages your website contains. In other words, it provides the search engine with detailed information about the content of your website.

Although sitemaps are primarily used to improve the indexing process of your website by search engines, they can also be used to provide access to specific pages. For example, pages that are not accessible via your menus can be indexed by the search engine if you wish.

The sitemap does not affect the normal way crawlerbots index your page—it only increases the visibility and accessibility of your content. Please note that a sitemap on your website does not guarantee that specific pages will be indexed and included by search engines. It also has no influence on your page ranking.
